“The distinguishing quality of my work derives from continuing explorations of a neglected parquetry technique I learned from German craftswoman, Ulrika Scriba. It is through the recombination of small thin pieces of wood veneer that I create progressions of color and pattern, simple to complex, that are both suggestive and mesmerizing. They can suggest anything from a forest floor in the fall, to a traditional quilt pattern. In the work on display here the pattern has suggested to me both a Scottish Tartan and a vintage television set. These patterns are the starting point in my design process. It is my hope that this work resonates with the viewer and gives rise to feelings of comfort, recognition and familiarity“
