Chairs NxNE
(North by Northeast)

An exhibition of original work by chairmakers in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont

November 30, 2006 – Friday, March 9, 2007

This exhibition presents chairs designed and made in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, states with long craft traditions and an abundance of skilled, contemporary furniture makers. The curators have selected work that exemplifies excellence in design and craftsmanship,  showing the wide range of distinctive work being produced. The 20 chairs on display illustrate the current vitality of the chairmaker’s craft in northern New England as well as its breadth of inspiration.
